About PayoffDesk

What this site is

PayoffDesk publishes free financial calculators for people making ordinary, consequential money decisions — buying a house, refinancing, taking out a car loan, clearing credit card debt, or working out whether retirement savings are on track.

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged. There is no signup, no email gate and no lead form handing your details to a lender.

How the calculations work

The loan tools use standard amortization mathematics — the same formulas lenders use — and produce a full period-by-period schedule rather than a single headline payment. Where fees materially change the outcome, such as PMI, origination fees, sales tax or fund expense ratios, they are included as explicit inputs rather than quietly ignored.

Assumptions are stated on each page. Where a figure depends on your jurisdiction, lender or credit profile, we say so rather than presenting an estimate as a quote.

Editorial approach

The written guidance accompanying each calculator is intended to explain the mechanics and the trade-offs, not to steer you toward a product. We do not accept payment for recommendations and we do not rank lenders.

How the site is funded

The site is supported by display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Advertising has no influence on the calculations or on the editorial content. See our privacy policy for details on how advertising partners use cookies.

Limitations

These are estimation tools. They cannot account for every fee, tax treatment or lender-specific rule, and they are not a substitute for advice from a licensed professional who knows your full situation. Please read the disclaimer.
